TUDOR MANOR HOUSE

Owlpen Manor stands in its own remote valley under the edge of the Cotswolds, its domain of pasture and meadow land enclosed by an amphitheatre of steeply-rising hills crowned with beech woods keeping it insulated from the modern world. It possesses a charm, a presence and a perfection of form and scale which have long been admired as one of the Cotswolds finest gems. Since 1974, the house has been a lived-in family home owned by Sir Nicholas and Lady Mander, who have ensured that the beauty and charm of Owlpen’s history is alive and well today. The manor house provides a breathtaking and truly romantic backdrop to any event.

CYDER BARN

The Cyder Barn is a fully licensed venue which is perfect for intimate dinners, parties, conferences and away days.  This a truly unique and intimate setting dating to 1446, with its gigantic oak press and ‘cruck’ trusses.  It lies adjacent to the pole barn, and when the two spaces are used to together they form two large spaces, over 300 square metres in size, which make for the ideal large celebration and events space. POLE BARN – NEW FOR 2020

This magnificent space was completed in 2020, thanks to the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (“Additional Cultural Evernts and Celebration Space at Owlpen Manor)”.  This is a timber-framed roundwood pole barn, built using English larch timber from trees felled on the estate, creating the perfect Cotswold wedding venue and events space. The barn is large enough to fit 120 people seated for fine dining, in a permanent covered space with an open fire, underfloor heating, and new toilets.  For more information, please contact the estate office.

Owlpen offers the privacy and space of your own Cotswold cottage backed up by comfort, design and servicing — all in the picturesque setting of a Cotswold estate that is ‘legendary’ (Country Life). Owlpen’s hallmark is perfect peace and seclusion. The variety of the cottages means there is one to suit every guest. Sleeping from 2—9, the cluster ranges from snug medieval barns and byres to sizeable farmhouses.

CHURCH OF THE HOLY CROSS

Standing just above the manor house, as if presiding over it, is the Church of the Holy Cross. The Manor Garden leads up through the lych gate (of 1892) into the churchyard. Inside, the church is richly textured, with mosaics, tiles, ceilings and stained glass of c. 1885. It provides a breathtaking venue for wedding services and blessings. All arrangements for blessings and wedding services are at the discretion of the Parish rector. Following a couple’s first visit to Owlpen, contact details are provided by the estate office.
