For forty years, Nicholas and Karin Mander have managed the cluster of romantic Cotswold holiday cottages at Owlpen in the great tradition of English country house hospitality. Today Owlpen offers the privacy and space of your own Cotswold cottage, backed up by every attention to detail in comfort, design and servicing. All this in the setting of a picturesque Cotswold estate that is 'legendary' (Country Life). Owlpen's hallmark is quality, with peace and seclusion such as you will find nowhere else in southern England.

The romantic hamlet of Cotswold holiday cottages at Owlpen features nine dreamy hideaways. They include 'listed' historic buildings, each one of them offering something unique. Sleeping from 2 to 9, they range from snug medieval barns and byres to quite sizeable farmhouses.

Marlings End and Woodwells are traditional weaver's and keeper's cottages, sleeping five or six. The Grist Mill is a watermill of 1728 with a cupola, a landmark building which sleeps eight. The Court House is a gabled banqueting house of 1620, sleeping up to five. Manor Farm sleeps four and Over Court sleeps five; while Peter's Nest, Summerfield and Tithe Barn are romantic retreats for two.

Open all the year round.

Some cottages with this symbol may have more than one level, but all principal living rooms, and a bedroom and a bathroom, will be on one level.

TRANSPORT - We can advise about airport pick up. Trains to Stroud from London Paddington (1hr 35 mins).

WELCOME - When you arrive there will be a tea tray prepared to welcome you. You can order your flowers and champagne, for that special occasion.

Reception is open at set hours, to answer queries, attend to cottage servicing arrangements, repeat bookings and to advise on sightseeing and local activities.

Outside reception hours, your post and fax messages may be collected from a cupboard to the left of the estate office door. There is also a wi-fi internet access point.

CYDER HOUSE RESTAURANT - The estate has its own gourmet Cotswold restaurant. Opening times vary through the seasons and reservations are necessary. Special occasions and opening for private parties (for 15 or more) are easily catered for. Call Mary Humphries our catering manager on: 01453-860216.

All cottages have Freeview or Freestat TV service and DVD recorders.

INTERIORS - In each cottage we have created the subtle intimacy and feeling of a well-loved home, kept in first-class order. We take the trouble to furnish holiday cottages individually in a Cotswold country style. We blend traditional and contemporary designs with antique furniture, knick-knacks, prints and plants, all in co-ordinated interiors.

OUTSIDE - Cottages stand secluded in their own landscaped gardens, private environments with car parking and garden furniture, and views over the Owlpen estate or the Cotswold hills.

PETS - pets allowed Pets are welcome in most cottages - please see individual holiday cottage for details

HEATING - Cottages are popular in all Cotswold seasons and are centrally heated throughout. They are kept snug and warm to the requirements of a clientele from Tasmania to Alaska. Many holiday cottages have an open fireplace or wood-burning stove as well, for those who enjoy the pleasure of kindling or contemplating a log fire.

DEPARTURE - There is no cleaning to be done. You are here to rest from household chores! Just leave the cottage tidy, and hand in the keys at the Estate Office on departure. We hope you will soon return, joining those who develop a deep and lasting affection for Owlpen and this corner of the Cotswolds.
